COMEÇA AMB UNA PARAULA, ESCULL LA TEVA

No ajornem les nostres vides. No creiem en el temps que ve “després que tot això hagi acabat.”  El que passa al nostre món és un continu. No hi ha cap final després del qual tot torna al que solia ser.

Hi ha alguna paraula que t’agradaria que perdurés?

Quina paraula proposaries  com a part d’una composició polifònica?

Sobre quina paraula t’agradaria assumir responsabilitat?

Amb quina paraula contribuiries, en relació amb la vida que tots vivim junts?

Visquem i actuem junts ara.

L’artista Katarzyna Krakowiak, el comissari Marcin Szczelina i la Fundació Mies van der Rohe et conviden a compondre i construir junts una nova estructura, tant arquitectònica com estructural.

Comença amb una paraula. L’arquitectura composta conjuntament. Des del confinament actual, la composició es convertirà en la veu de la vida viscuda, una qüestió sobre l’estat actual i la futura supervivència de la nostra comunitat, la seva obertura, la seva llibertat i la seva creativitat. Una crida a l’esperança.

La iniciativa de l’artista transforma el pavelló Mies van der Rohe en un lloc de recerca sobre el nou inici d’una estructura del llenguatge arquitectònic i l’arquitectura del llenguatge. Presentada al Pavelló, la composició polifònica es convertirà en una col·lecció de paraules enviades – descrites, traduïdes i utilitzades per a trobar un denominador comú, un nexe que marca l’inici de la nova estructura.

Krakowiak veu l’arquitectura, especialment enmig de la crisi mundial actual, com un continu, un verb imperfecte, l’activitat i paper de la qual mai s’han assolit. Composem una arquitectura sense dimensions, incommensurable en la seva durada, la seva dissolució, la seva superposició. Composem una arquitectura que parla, no només amb   paraules, sinó també amb els espais entre elles, obrint un territori de recerca crítica sobre arquitectura, llenguatge, la nostra comunitat actual i futura. És un lloc de diversitat i diferència. Un espai de traducció, tant entre les llengües dels participants del projecte com entre estructures arquitectòniques i lingüístiques.

Un espai on l’horitzó es propaga constantment en direccions encara desconegudes.

IT BEGINS WITH ONE WORD, CHOOSE YOURS

Let’s not postpone our lives. We do not believe in the time that comes “after all this is over”. What happens with our world is a continuum. There is no end after which everything returns to what it used to be.

Is there a word that you would like to make last?

What word would you propose as part of a polyphonic composition of multiple voices?

What word would you like to take responsibility for?
What word would you contribute to the life we all live together?

Let’s live and act together now.

The artist Katarzyna Krakowiak, curator Marcin Szczelina and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, cordially invite you to compose and build together a new structure, both architectural and linguistic.

It begins with one word. Architecture composed together. Emerging out of the current lockdown, the composition will become a voice of our life lived together, a question about the current state and future survival of our community, its openness, freedom and creativity. A call for hope.

The artist’s initiative thus transforms the Barcelona Pavilion into a site of enquiry about the new beginning of a structure of the language of architecture and the architecture of language. Presented at the Pavilion, the polyphonic composition will become a collection of submitted words – described, translated and used to find a common denominator, a nexus that marks the beginning of the new structure.

Krakowiak views architecture, especially amid the current global crisis, as continuous, an imperfect verb, its activity and role never accomplished. We compose architecture without dimensions, it is immeasurable in its lasting, its dissolution, its overlapping. We compose an architecture that speaks – not only with words, but also with the spaces between them that open up a territory of critical enquiry on architecture, language, our current and future community. It is a site of diversity and difference. A space of translations, both between the languages of the project participants and between architectural and linguistic structures.
A space where the horizon constantly extends in as yet unknown directions.
