IT services for students
UPC e-mail account
Students have a user account and a UPC e-mail inbox from the moment they enrol. The e-mail address is:
username@estudiantat.upc.edu
- The e-mail accounts are managed by Google, but authentication takes place at the UPC, with the intranet username and password —the same username with which you access all of the UPC's services (e.g. WiFi network, intranets, ATENEA, etc.)
- Account access requires two-factor authentication (2FA). It is recommended to have the double factor configured on more than one device (for example on the mobile phone and the laptop) to always have it available in case an incident occurs on one of the devices (theft, breakdown, loss...)
- A quota of 15 GB is offered for e-mail, shared with other Google Workspace products
- Accounts can be accessed from gmail.com or correu.upc.edu
Network connection
All ETSAB facilities have WiFi coverage. Two networks are available:
- Eduroam - for the entire educational community, accessed with your UPC username
- UPCGuest - temporary-access network for visitors
To access certain UPC resources securely, you will need to use the VPN (Virtual Private Network) through the UPClink service. This connection requires two-factor authentication (2FA). It is recommended to have the double factor configured on more than one device (for example on the mobile phone and the laptop) to always have it available in case an incident occurs on one of the devices (theft, breakdown, loss...).
Software
- The UPC has various software distribution agreements directed at all enrolled students.
UPC software distribution agreements
- The ETSAB also has agreements for specific software in the field of architecture that meets teaching needs on the degrees taught at the School.
List of specific software at ETSAB
- You can install all programs that are free or open source on your personal computer or laptop. For some programs, there is an option to acquire them with discounts or temporary trial versions.
Cloud services: Google Workspace and Office 365
Google Workspace
- To access Google Workspace, the username is the same as the e-mail address:
username@estudiantat.upc.edu
- The available storage space is 15 GB (including e-mail) and access requires two-factor authentication (2FA). It is recommended to have the double factor configured on more than one device (for example on the mobile phone and the laptop) to always have it available in case an incident occurs on one of the devices (theft, breakdown, loss...).
Office 365
- UPC also offers a Microsoft account that allows access to the online Office 365 tools:
username@office365.estudiantat.upc.edu
- This account does not include an associated e-mail mailbox.
Practical's room
The practical's room A-S1 is equipped with:
- 31 computers that are connected to the fixed network and have the aforementioned programs installed
- 2 A3 scanners
The room is open to enrolled students at ETSAB, for exercises and practices under the following conditions of use:
- Installing additional software or modifying computer settings is not allowed.
- Files and documents must be saved on external devices or in the cloud. Files saved on the computer are temporary and will be lost when logging out.
- Access to the practical's room is regulated by the rules and schedule of the IT Service.
