URBAN MANAGEMENT AND VALUATION ECTS

 Its objective is to promote research in the fields of planning and management of the city and the territory. Therefore, it provides mechanisms to develop the research capacity and skills regarding territorial, urban and real estate issues from a trans-disciplinary perspective that tackles the technical, legal, economic and social aspects of urban management and valuation.

URBANISM ECTS

 Its main objective is to train highly qualified researchers in the field of urban research. Therefore, academic study and reflection on some of the central themes of the history of urbanism and contemporary urbanism, of the analysis and intervention techniques, both at territorial and urban scale are reviewed. They are in fact a platform for the discussion and dissemination of the research carried out at the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning.

PROJECT PROCESS AND PROGRAMMING ECTS

Its main objective is training in research methodology on theory and practice of architectural design; it allows understanding the essentials to explore the poetic, ethic and epistemological elements of architectural design. In these studies, the work of iconic authors is thoroughly explained and the idea of function is reclaimed, in the most ambitious sense possible, to be restored at the center of the project.

THEORY, HISTORY AND CULTURE ECTS

 Its objective is increasing the competence in this general field, providing the necessary specialisation and the knowledge of excellence for the professional practice in the field of cultural and museum management, the management of architectural and urban heritage, the mediation in participation processes, and the elaboration of historical and heritage documentation for all kinds of public and private institutions. The generalist training of architecture requires of this process of specialisation to be able to contribute effectively to society. This specialisation line of the Master wants to train people trained in these fields, capable of collaborating with cultural institutions and provides the framework for the development of doctoral thesis and the academic specialisation on history and theory of architecture research.

CONTEMPORARY PROJECT ECTS

It assumes that Barcelona is at the forefront of architectural and urban design worldwide. The quality of the projects and the relationship of those with their cultural context and the geographic environment where are inserted in its multiple scales, as well as the materiality with which the projects are developed, as understood in the professional practice and training in the Barcelona School of Architecture. This specialisation line seeks the expansion, research and dissemination of this way of designing with special emphasis placed on the role of materiality and the implementation of different scales in the architectural project. This specialty line will be exclusively taught in English.
